There’s something really powerful about finding your people.
Recently, I joined a few networking groups, and I didn’t expect it to feel the way it does. In a world that can feel so divided, it’s been surprisingly hopeful. A group of people coming together—not to compete, but to support, collaborate, and genuinely want to see each other succeed.
That kind of space is rare. And it’s energizing.
It’s also made me realize how much we need spaces like this. Places where the conversation isn’t about proving yourself, but about being yourself. Where people are open, curious, and willing to share what they know instead of holding it close.
And today, something clicked for me in a way it hadn’t before.
The idea of trading services.
Not in a transactional, rigid way—but in a creative, human way. A way that says: I see your value, and I trust mine too.
Because the truth is—we all have something to offer.
But we don’t always see it that way.
We’re so used to measuring value in dollars, titles, or credentials that we forget about the things that come naturally to us. The things we’ve learned through experience. The way we think. The way we support others. The way we show up.
Those things matter.
I’ve been thinking a lot about growing my coaching business and getting honest with myself about where I need help. Marketing is one of those areas. I can do it… but it’s not where I shine. It drains me more than it energizes me, and when I’m in it too long, I start to feel stuck.
Coaching, on the other hand? That’s where I come alive.
That’s where I feel aligned, clear, and energized.
And that contrast made me pause.
Because how often do we try to force ourselves to do everything—instead of leaning into what we do best and letting others support the rest?
So instead of pushing through or telling myself I just needed to “figure it out,” I tried something different.
I offered a trade.
Coaching in exchange for marketing advice.
And something about that felt… freeing.
It shifted me out of scarcity and into creativity.
It reminded me that building something doesn’t always have to follow the traditional rules. That there are other ways to grow, to connect, and to move forward—ways that feel more aligned, more human, and honestly, more sustainable.
It also required something important.
Owning my value.
Because trading only works when you believe what you offer matters.
And if I’m being honest, that’s the part that can feel uncomfortable.
It’s easier to say, “I’ll just pay for it” than it is to say, “What I have is worth something too.”
But it is.
For all of us.
We all have skills, experiences, and perspectives that someone else needs. And when we’re willing to share those, something shifts—not just in what we receive, but in how we see ourselves.
We move from I don’t have enough to I already bring something meaningful to the table.
And that’s a powerful place to operate from.
What I’m starting to realize is this:
Creativity isn’t just about what we make.
It’s about how we think.
How we solve problems.
How we choose to show up.
Sometimes creativity looks like building something new.
And sometimes it looks like asking, What if I did this differently?
What if instead of doing it all alone, you collaborated?
What if instead of waiting until you could afford help, you created an exchange?
What if the thing you need is already available—through connection?
What if support doesn’t have to be complicated?
What if it just starts with a conversation?
Because that’s really what this experience has been about.
Not just trading services—but building relationships. Trusting people. Letting myself be supported while also offering something meaningful in return.
And that feels very different than doing it alone.
So maybe that’s the invitation.
To look at what you need…
Look at what you have…
And get a little more creative in how you bridge the gap.
You might have more to work with than you think.
You don’t need more to get started—you just need to recognize the value you already bring.
